A dirty unit isn't really a comfort problem. It's a cost one. Dust clogs the filter and coils, the compressor works harder for less cold air, and your electric bill climbs while the room stays warm. That smell when you switch it on is mold growing in the same place.
What a real aircon clean covers
We pull and wash the filter, deep-clean the evaporator coil and the blower wheel where the dust actually packs in, and flush the drain line so it stops dripping. Split type or window type, same thoroughness.
How often you actually need it
Every 6 months for a normal home. Every 3 if you run it daily or live near a main road, where the dust is worse. Cagayan de Oro's heat and dust are hard on units, and most people here wait a year or two too long.
